Man applauds estranged wife's jail sentence

A Brisbane man whose estranged wife tried to use a four wheel drive to run down him and his baby son says she deserves her 10-year jail sentence.

Phirajit Evans was found guilty in the Supreme Court in April of two counts of attempted murder.

Evans hit her husband with the car in October 2001 after he refused to discuss tax payments with her.

The court heard he was pushing his son in a pram at the time and the impact sent them both flying.

They took cover behind another car which she also rammed.

Outside the court, Chris Evans said he did not believe her lawyers' submissions that she was sorry about the attack.

"She's remorseful because she's going to jail, if she wasn't going to jail she wouldn't be remorseful at all," he said.

"She's only sorry for what she's done because she's going to jail for a long time."
