DADS CALL OFF COURT PROTEST

09:30 - 17 August 2004

A Protest by three "superheroes" on the roof of Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court ended yesterday evening.

Campaigners from pressure Fathers 4 Justice dressed as Spiderman, Batman and Robin came down from the roof at 5pm after negotiations with the police. No arrests were made.

The protesters began their demonstration at 5.30am and said they intended to stay on the roof for 48 hours, along with a large banner saying "In the Name of the Father".

The group campaigns for equal contact rights between mothers and fathers in the event of a separation.

Frazer Chatburn, East Midlands co-ordinator for the group, said he was happy with the result of the group's protest.

He said: "I think it went well. We had positive feedback from the public."
