A 27-year-old Indo-Canadian man was found dead inside a convertible Mercedes in Whalley early Friday morning. He'd been shot in the head.
Police said the shooting occurred about 3 a.m. in the 9100 block of 125 St.
One report said two suspects were seen fleeing the area in a truck shortly after neighbours heard shots fired.
One person was taken into custody a short time later.
The dead man was a Surrey resident and has no criminal record, but the shooting is not believed to be random.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT), Surrey RCMP Serious Crime Section and Surrey RCMP Identification Section have been called in to investigate.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact IHIT investigators at 604-598-4515 or if you wish to remain anonymous call CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.

A female student at a Surrey high school told police a man tried to get her into his van as she was walking home from school in the area of 188 St. and 70 Ave. on Tuesday.
According to the girl, the male driver of a burgundy mini-van with a pinstripe along its side pulled up beside her and asked if she wanted a ride.
When she refused, she says the man got out of the van, swore at her and ordered to her to get in. The girl fled.
She described the driver as a clean-shaven Caucasian man in his late 20s with blue eyes and spiky, blond-tipped hair.
Clayton Heights Secondary School issued an advisory about the incident Tuesday to all students and staff, as well as neighbouring schools.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Surrey RCMP Const. Nanton at 604-599-0502.
