Toronto police are searching for a 28-year-old Ottawa native now living in Toronto who has been missing since Tuesday night. Luke Van Veen was last seen in the Lawrence Ave. and Yonge St. area of Toronto, where he lives. He left behind all his identification as well as his belongings after telling his girlfriend he was going for a walk.

"It's unusual behaviour for him to just disappear, and with no reason," said Toronto police Det. Anthony Villani.

Van Veen's girlfriend, Leslie Wall, told Toronto's City TV it's not like him to simply disappear.

"He's not the adventurous type to go out and just, you know, leave," she said.

Villani said police have searched the area and checked local hospitals.

Van Veen's father Bill, who lives in Ottawa, has gone to Toronto to try and help find his son.

Van Veen is described as white, with a medium build, 6-foot-3, 220 lbs., with short blond hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a white dress shirt, khaki pants and brown shoes.

Anyone with information is asked to call Toronto police at 416-808-5300 or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-8477.
