ROSSLAND, B.C. - A mother and her two children are dead after an apparent double murder-suicide in this West Kootenay town.

RCMP in nearby Trail said the 30-year-old mother and her four-year-old twin girls died Tuesday from suspected carbon monoxide poisoning.

Staff Sergeant Nick Romanchuk said it appears the woman rigged her vehicle to send the exhaust into its interior, then got inside with her daughters.

The three were pronounced dead at the scene.

They were identified as Jennifer Ann MacNeil, 30, and twin daughters Savannah and Seraphina.

The B.C. Coroner's Service was also investigating, and an autopsy was being arranged to confirm the cause of death.
