Toronto police arrest mother of beaten, burned boy
Police have arrested the mother of a six-year-old boy in Toronto who was beaten and burned, almost a month after her boyfriend was arrested in the case.
The boy was taken to hospital May 19 after a Toronto Transit Commission bus driver noticed his injuries and called police.
The young victim was travelling on the bus with a sibling, his mother and the mother's boyfriend.
The boyfriend fled the bus before police arrived. The 31-year-old man was arrested four days later and charged with aggravated assault.

At the time of his arrest, the mother alleged that the man had inflicted the injuries on her son, and then threatened her when she tried to get help for the boy.
On Thursday, police charged the 26-year-old woman with aggravated assault and criminal negligence causing bodily harm. Following a brief court appearance, her bail hearing was set for June 20.
The young victim was listed in critical condition when he was taken to hospital. He has since recovered and is now in a rehabilitation centre.
Both he and his sibling were taken into custody of the Children's Aid Society.
