CHATHAM -- The Crown has dropped a charge of abduction against a man accused of killing a 22-month-old toddler.

That leaves 36-year-old Shawn Palmer to face a single count of first degree murder.

Palmer, who is being held in a London jail, is accused in the death of Donny Clubb, his girlfriend's baby.

No reason was given for the withdrawn charge.

Palmer appeared in a Chatham, Ont., court this morning via an audio link.

The case against was put over until his next court date, via video link, on July 19.

His lawyer says that's likely when it will be decided where the trial will be held.

Donny's remains were found in a woodlot in Cambridge, Ont., on July 3.

An autopsy failed to reveal a cause of death and authorities have said more tests are needed to find the cause.
