*Updated* Suspension Rescinded
Constable Mickey Auger is happy to have has his badge and uniform back.
The Chief of Timmins Police suspended Auger from active duty last week as a
result of an investigation into an allegation of misconduct. No reason was given
as to why Chief Richard Laperierre suspended Auger. However, a statement from
Auger’s lawyer--Lorenzo Girones-- revealed the suspension was connected to
Auger appearing in some advertisements for Girones and Associates.
Yesterday,(Feb. 17) the Chief announced Auger’s suspension was rescinded,
athough he wouldn’t tell us why he changed his mind. Girones’ office also
offered no comment. Auger too won’t say much, but tells trueNorthNews.com
he’s pleased with the news, however, he won’t be returning to work.

He’s one of the most well-known Timmins Police Officers, but he has been
suspended from work with pay.
Constable Mickey Auger was recently awarded his medal for 30 years of service,
and he’s due to retire at the end of April. Police Chief Richard Laperierre
has suspended Auger as a result of an investigation into an allegation of
misconduct that has been brought to their attention. However, they will not
release details of the allegations.
Des Walsh, Deputy Police Chief: “The Chief felt the allegation was of serious
enough nature that the officer be suspended from active duties.”
The Deputy says no official charge has been laid against Auger yet. If and when
one is laid, a hearing—similar to any trial—will take place.
Des Walsh, Deputy Police Chief: "The matter is currently under
investigation by our professional standards branch and once the investigation is
complete the investigating officer will make a recommendation with respect to
charges."

Constable Auger plans to retire sometime in the spring. He then looks forward to
helping residents in a different way, he’s thinking of running for Timmins
