Edmonton — An Edmonton man accused of murdering his pregnant wife has made his first court appearance.
Wearing shackles and jail overalls, an exhausted-looking Michael White appeared in docket court, where he reserved plea on charges of second-degree murder and committing an indignity to a dead body.
The 28-year-old heavy-duty mechanic is accused of killing 29-year-old Liana White, his wife of five years and mother of their three-year-old daughter.
A body believed to be that of Ms. White's was found in a ditch by a farmer's field Sunday, five days after she was reported missing.
Mr. White showed little emotion as he scanned the courtroom while the charges were read out.
His next court appearance is set for July 26.
