DARTMOUTH, N.S. — A Nova Scotia woman has been sentenced to 28 months in prison for charges that include duping her boyfriend's family into believing she was pregnant with triplets.

Michelle Ann Drake, 37, of Mulgrave pleaded guilty to fraud and possessing falsified credit cards.

She apologized in court to some of the people she defrauded of up to $60,000 over several years.

Her offences included defrauding people by befriending them with tales of heartache and then stealing their credit cards and then disappearing.

Drake will begin serving her new sentence after completing 24 months for 11 other fraud-related convictions.

Crown attorney Bob Morrison says a prison sentence was appropriate for a woman with previous fraud convictions.
