Stepfather arrested for daily’ sexual abuse

Kingston Police arrested a Kingston man after his stepdaughter reported years of sexual abuse to the Children’s Aid Society.
Members of the Sex Crime Unit began the investigation after being contacted by the CAS after an under-age female reported the abuse.
Investigators say the sexual assaults had been occurring over a period of about three years in the family home on an almost daily basis. The victim reported the attacks after she became concerned for her siblings’ safety, who were still at home with the accused.
The accused, a 36-year-old Kingston man, was charged March 26 with five counts of sexual assault, sexual interference and assault.
Joyceville Pen search finds 32 homemade weapons
Joyceville Institution has returned to normal routine after guards finished an “exceptional” search for homemade weapons March 23.
A total of 32 homemade weapons, mostly sharpened butter knives and sharpened metal objects, plus 30 litres of brew and two ounces of marijuana were seized by staff during this search.Assistant Warden Brian Joyce said every area of the institution was searched.
Information gathered is being used to “enhance existing security and control practices and procedures to control the movement of contraband within the facility.”
No staff member or offender was injured leading up to, or during the course of the search.
Second man charged in attempted murder
Napanee OPP have charged another area man in the stabbing that occurred March 21 in Napanee.
A 20-year-old Addington Highlands man has been charged with attempted murder and break and enter for the stabbing of a 20-year-old Napanee man.
Kingston Police arrested another suspect, a 26-year-old man, March 22 in Kingston.
The victim has been released from hospital.
The investigation is continuing.
Domestic call
An argument over use of the bathroom resulted in a 23-year-old man being charged with assault and threatening after a woman was strangled.
Police went to the 300 block of Alfred Street March 25 where the victim said the accused had assaulted her and strangled her around her neck after arguing over the use of the bathroom. After the initial fight, the two people left the residence and ended up in the area of Princess and Alfred St. where the accused assaulted the victim again.
The victim received minor injuries that did not require medical attention.
Rough passenger gets arrested
Kingston Police arrested a 33-year-old man March 24 for mischief after a passenger in a cab got nasty.
The cabbie called police when one of two men he had driven to Barrie and York Streets began punching the interior of the cab and then kicked the door.
Police located the accused several blocks away. He was carrying a small amount of marijuana and morphine pills.
Cat fight gets physical
A couple who argued and fought over a cat being neutered have both been charged with assault.
Kingston Police arrested a 52-year-old woman and a 46-year-old man for domestic assault March 23 after being called to a Rideau Street home. Both people had obvious signs of assault.
Drug bust at laundromat
The white powder wasn’t Tide.
Kingston Police drug unit officers seized $650 in cocaine and Percocet pills, $1,100 in cash and packaging material in a drug bust at a Division Street coin laundromat March 23.
A 44-year-old man was charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and two counts of breach of recognizance. The accused was awaiting trail on a charge from June 2005.
