A Toronto police officer has been charged with three counts of assault.

The detective attended a home on Newholm Rd. in the city’s west end around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday while she was off-duty. Soon after, police got a call for a domestic assault at that home.

Police say the detective confronted and assaulted one of the victims before a second victim intervened and was also assaulted.

Const. Wendy Drummond said details about domestic assault cases cannot be released so she could not provide details about the situation.

Const. Isabelle Cotton said she believed the accused knew the victims.

The accused has 19 years of service with the Toronto police force and is a member of the Sex Crimes Unit.

Det. Kimberly Hancock, 45, of Toronto is charged. She is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 6.
