SUDBURY, Ont. -- An Amber Alert has been issued following the disappearance of a newborn girl from a Sudbury hospital.
Police describe the infant as weighing 8 lbs., 11 oz., with some bruising on her face. The child was last seen wearing a white flannel hospital gown and wrapped in a white blanket
Authorities are looking for an aboriginal woman, described as 5 feet, six inches tall, slim and about 26- to 30-years-old. She was last seen wearing white pants and a V-neck white top with an open black sweater. Her black hair is in a pony tail.
Sudbury Police Const. Bert Lapalme told CBC News it's possible the woman may have taken the baby onto a city bus which passes right by the hospital.
"She was seen walking out of hospital. She was on foot,"he said. "The bus system travels right in front of the hospital itself, so therefore I believe there was a suspicion that [the woman] might have jumped on the bus," Mr. Lapalme said.
