An American
woman who said she accidentally shot her husband to death while on a hunting
trip in Newfoundland is suing two insurance companies for not paying
out his life insurance policy. Mark Brian Harshbarger of Pennsylvania,
43, was hunting with his family near Buchans Junction, N.L., in September 2006
when he was "shot by his spouse upon being mistaken for a bear," according to an
RCMP news release. While RCMP have yet to rule the death accidental, the
insurance companies are not paying out the death benefit to Mary Beth
Harshbarger because Pennsylvania law states that a person cannot benefit from
intentional wrongdoing.
