SIMCOE, Ont.–Provincial police say a man collapsed and died after being Tasered in a confrontation with officers in southwestern Ontario.
Police say officers responding to a call about an unwanted man causing a disturbance near Simcoe on Monday morning were confronted by "a combative male party."
A Taser was used to subdue the man and he was taken into custody and transported to the Norfolk County provincial police station.
Upon arrival at the detachment, police say the man collapsed and officers administered first aid until the ambulance arrived.
The man died at Norfolk General Hospital.
Because the man died in police custody, Ontario's Special Investigation Unit is probing the incident.
