Social worker is accused of aiding child's abduction

December 9, 2010

A social worker was sacked after allegedly helping a mother in the abduction of her four-year-old daughter.

Perl Gavaghan da Massa has been missing since she disappeared from a nursery in Manchester in 2008.

Gina Woolaston, a social worker, was named as an intermediary on the shared residency order of the parents who have split. It is alleged she knew of the abduction plan.

She is due to appear at a General Social Care Council conduct hearing Tuesday. She denies she was sacked because of Perl's case, and denies aiding her abduction.
