A better way to treat mentally ill inmates                        7 of 7

The facility’s impressive record has drawn international attention. Less than 50 per cent of its ex-patients reoffend, compared with 92 per cent at other institutions that house similarly ill offenders. The only cloud in over St. Lawrence Valley is that it has a steadily growing waiting list of 50 - a distinct problem given that the province’s 8,065 offenders are serving finite sentences, after which they must be released.
