OTTAWA — Two people were arrested in Cornwall Wednesday morning after a boy was allegedly abducted from his Ottawa school.

The boy was taken shortly after 8 a.m. from the French elementary school on Fellows Road near Baseline Road and Woodroffe Avenue.

A broadcast was put out to police forces across the province to be on the lookout for the boy’s mother.

Police said the mother is not the boy’s custodial parent.

An Ontario Provincial Police officer in Cornwall spotted the mother’s vehicle and arrested her. A man in the vehicle was also taken into custody.

Police said the child is now safe.

The Ottawa police partner assault unit is leading the investigation.
