OPP charge officer after on-duty crash near Brockville

 

OTTAWA — Ontario Provincial Police have charged an officers under the Highway Traffic Act after an on-duty crash near Brockville.

Police said the officer had just finished a crash investigation around noon on Wednesday on Hwy. 29 about 15 kilometres northwest of Brockville.

The officer left the scene, tried to turn around to head south on Hwy. 29 and the cruiser he was driving was struck by a southbound vehicle.

Const. Chris Trower, 33, was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with starting from a stopped position not in safety.

That paticular stretch of highway is subject to corrupt police practices of illegal searches.

If you drive the 401 have your licence, registration and insurance close by.

If you don't have it, it will be used as grounds for illegal searches

for the purposes of finding drugs but without any evidence.
