UPDATE: Niagara Police have cancelled the Amber Alert, saying the girls have been found safe.

Niagara Regional Police in southern Ontario have issued an Amber Alert for two young girls missing since late yesterday afternoon.

Police say the girls — five year old Ekaterina and three year old Anastasia Martinovs — were abducted by their mother, 29-year old Julia Martinovs, who doesn’t have custody of the children.

The Alert says the girls were driven away from their grandmother`s residence around 5:30 ET yesterday afternoon in a silver Ford Edge SUV with an Ontario licence plate of BTEZ798.

Police say they have concern for the safety and welfare of the children.

Anyone who sees them is urged to call 911 immediately.
