Introducing Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer at Queen’s Park as “the next prime minister of Canada,” Ford stepped up his attacks on Trudeau over the Liberals’ plan to put a price on carbon to tackle climate change.
Ontario Premier Doug Ford, left, met with federal Conservative leader Andrew Scheer at Queen's Park on Oct. 30, 2018. Scheer welcomed Ford into the fray as the two Tory chiefs fight against Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s carbon-pricing plan. (Rene Johnston / Toronto Star)
“There’s only one way — one way — we’re going to get rid of the carbon tax and that is by getting rid of Justin Trudeau,” said Ford, who will spend up to $30 million on a legal challenge of the federal measure.
Ontario’s premier is still smarting from Trudeau’s decision to unveil the Liberal climate plan last week in Ford’s home riding of Etobicoke North, held federally by Science Minister Kirsty Duncan since 2008.
Wynne campaigned against Harper in her successful 2014 provincial election and again in Trudeau’s 2015 federal victory.
“It’s wonderful all the new voices that are coming out to fight this carbon tax,” said the federal leader, who has yet to unveil his party’s plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Asked if he felt in any way threatened by Ford’s apparent national political ambitions, Scheer said: “Not at all.”
“There’s great co-operation between provincial and federal parties when we have interests and common ground,” he said.
In Ottawa, Intergovernmental Minister Dominic LeBlanc said Scheer was “at Queen’s Park today getting his marching orders from Doug Ford on Stephen Harper’s failed plan to deal with climate change.”
“Canadians expect their governments to take action to combat climate change and that is exactly what we are doing,” said LeBlanc.
“Putting a price on pollution is good for the economy and good for the environment, which means that it’s good for the middle class.”

Doug Ford is now shooting himself in the foot and proving himself to be a follower of the divisive destructive political philosophy that is used by the the lowest forms of life in modern politics.
Doug Ford has enough to worry about in Ontario.
He has billions of dollars going to waste being paid to Ontario's Criminal Cartel of Children's Aid Societies and we have heard NOTHING from the Ontario Conservatives as to how and when they will act to end this rote of taxpayers money.
Then there is the systemic Ontario Police corruption who are largely conservative voters, Don't expect Doug Ford to turn his attention to the endless habitual fabrication of evidence and obstruction of justice by the lowest forms of live in the Ottawa Police.
Examples of Ontaro's Rotten Corrupt Evidence Fabricating Cops
Constable Van T NGUYEN Badge No. 952
This corrupt evidence fabricating rotten cop visited a very violent female
while on duty with out any reason months after he fabricated evidence to
NOT charge her.
NGUYEN colluded with two other Rotten cops of the Ottawa Police.
Cst. SAMUAL W. SMITH Badge No. 880 and Former Det Now Sgt. Peter Van Der Zander.
Van Der Zander. was promoted AFTER the Ottawa Police knew he fabricated evidence, as did several of the Crown Attorneys of Ottawa and the Local Children's Aid Society who all colluded in have charges stayed and charges laid to suit their political reasons to protect Van Der Zander, Constable Van T NGUYEN Badge No. 952
and Cst. SAMUAL W. SMITH from charges of Obstructing Justice and fabricating evidence.
Everyone in Ottawa should take a careful note of the names of these Rotten Ottawa Cops.
Det Sgt. Peter Van Der Zander.
Take a good look at this Criminal in an Ottawa Police Uniform,
Sergeant Peter Van Der Zander who actually fabricates evidence
to NOT charge violent women. This child abusing criminal was actually
promoted AFTER the Ottawa Police became aware that he had fabricated
evidence and obstructed justice. His superiors all the way to the Chief
of the Ottawa Police covered it up.
Van Der Zander's unpublished number ends up in the hands of those seeking
a favour. In return, he intimidates, harasses, fabricates evidence and brings discredit to
all the other Ottawa Police officers who have more ethics.
Hopefully, one day, this POS will end up in Innes Road where he belongs.
